Colorado Huntcode explanation
We have been asked several times to explain what the huntcodes mean.
Lets take a simple huntcode and break it down, so you can understand what you are looking at.
EF000O1M
The first and second letters, here EF represent the species and the sex. CDOW uses the following letter for various species;

| G | Mountain Goat |
| M | Moose |
| S | Rocky mountain Big Horn Sheep |
The second letter represents the sex.

The next three numbers represents the GMU. In this example it is 000 (three Zero’s).
The next letter is actually the type of hunt. CDOW uses the following values.

| L | Late Season |
| O | Regular Season |
| W | Ranching for Wildlife |
| Y | Landowner Pilot Public |
The next number, here in our example, 1, is the season. They range from 1 - 7 (some private property hunts).
The last letter is the type of hunt. In our example, it is "M" or Muzzleloader.

So there you have it, EF000O1M, is Elk Female statewide draw (000 means statewide draw), Open 1st Muzzleloader season.
