No hogs in texas!

Anything that you may need to travel outside of Colorado or the states to get. Hogs, alligators, zebras or whatever.

No hogs in texas!

Postby Alaskan1 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 7:00 pm

so I took a few buddies down to 7 bar this past weekend. Mina emailed me a few days before we left and said they hadn't seen many hogs recently. Felt a little mislead
That little store in Dickens had a flyer bout a community notice....Div of Wildlife was doing an "erradication" using helicopters.
i did a little follow up yesterday. DOW used 6 choppers and killed 400+ hogs in the county. Left them where they were shot.
Coyote hunting was excellent at least.
If you can't stay in Alaska...Colorado's the next best thing

Dustin told me they were trapping those hogs quite a ways off from the 7 Bar.
I wonder where the TX DNR did the shoot, did you happen to catch the county?
We are heading down the weekend after next, but we are hunting the Dos Plumas in Trent.
Plenty of hogs getting killed there. It's a little farther to drive but the cost is right 250. for a 2 day hog hunt which includes the lodge.

You guys looking to get on a great hog hunt need to check the Dos Plumas Ranch in Trent, TX.
There were 600 hogs in the 600 acre area, along with several exotics.
A target rich environment for sure.
The cost for archers is 125.00 a day with a two day min. plus tax.
Rifle hunters expect to pay 25.00 a day more.

Thank you Lew for the information. We found the ranch last year and are interested in booking a hunt with them. Although this year we had trouble finding it again, but we were able to find it again threw this posting.

Good to hear it!
Did you guys already do your hunt?
If you are in the booking stage say "Hi" to Alan for us.
We are looking at booking again next winter ourselves, and I can't wait to get back there.
Also we brought our own food and did our own cooking which saved us a bunch IMO, cost was 15.00 per hunter for the weekend for the food bill. Gas ran us 80.00 each, plus the 55.00 small game permit in TX.
The cost to process the hogs was 33.00 each since we ground the meat and made our own sausage.
You can cut out the backstraps for chops and the hams come off pretty slick too.
We opted for ground and it took 3 of us most of a day to do 4 hogs.
Happy hunting!!
